The Challenge
FRED needed an elegant gift box for their crystal ball collectible that would:
- Protect a fragile, circular object during shipping and handling
- Create a "moment of surprise" when opened
- Reflect the brand's luxury positioning through materials and craftsmanship
Our Solution
1. Custom EVA Foam Insert
We designed a precision-cut white EVA foam tray to cradle the crystal ball securely.
The foam was then wrapped in premium white paper matching the interior lining, ensuring that the "FRED" brand name is visible the moment the box is opened.
2. Premium Materials
- Exterior: 128gsm specialty paper with FRED's requested texture (100% pure wood pulp)
- Structure: 1,200gsm greyboard for rigidity and premium feel
The specialty paper creates a distinctive tactile experience while maintaining visual consistency with FRED's brand identity.
3. Innovative Magnetic Closure
The box features a magnetic closure system paired with a satin ribbon pull, designed for both functionality and elegance. When opened, the crystal ball is presented at the perfect angle for a dramatic reveal.
4. Protective Outer Shipping Box
For e-commerce and global distribution, we added a secondary protective box:
- Exterior: 350gsm US kraft paper with 140gsm corrugated layer
- Interior: 15mm-thick black sponge padding on all six sides
This ensures the luxury gift box arrives in pristine condition anywhere in the world.
